McLaren will race in this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in a special, fan-inspired colour scheme as the team bids to win a coveted Formula 1 championship double.
The Woking-based squad goes into the last race with both drivers still in title contention, along with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who is 12 points behind Lando Norris.
Both Norris and team-mate Oscar Piastri’s MCL39 machines will be sporting a revised livery that’s been created in collaboration with the team’s principal partner, BAT.
McLaren’s traditional colours will include bespoke artwork that fans had a chance to contribute to, in line with the ‘Live Your Fandom’ campaign from BAT brand VELO.
“Our fans are at the heart of everything we do, and this special livery is another way of showing our appreciation,” McLaren Chief Marketing Officer Louise McEwen said.
“Through the ‘Live Your Fandom’ campaign with VELO, we’ve been able to celebrate their passion and creativity in a way that truly brings the Papaya Family together.”
McLaren CEO Zak Brown added via X: “Great to reveal our fan-inspired VELO livery for the Abu Dhabi GP as part of the ‘Live Your Fandom’ campaign, which showcases the passion, creativity and community of the McLaren Formula 1 Team’s global fanbase. Can’t wait to see it hit the track this weekend!”
