Lewis Hamilton appears to already have one eye on next year’s Formula 1 season after delivering another negative assessment of his own driving at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The Brit delivered a less-than-complimentary verdict of his performance in Nevada, despite coming from the back row to finish 10th [eighth after both McLaren’s disqualifications].
Hamilton said that he had had “22 bad weekends”, and said that Ferrari would fail to finish second in the Constructors’ Championship, telling media including Motorsport Week: “I don’t even know how many points we have, but at this rate, with my performance, we’re done.”
Hamilton has consistently berated himself in media opportunities post-race this year, after a season in which he has so far failed to score higher than fourth place.
Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur dismissed Hamilton’s negative take, putting it down to the fact that he, like all drivers, spoke to the media within minutes of the race concluding.
The Scuderia has not enjoyed its most stellar of campaigns, with team-mate Charles Leclerc also struggling, scoring no higher than second this year.
Leclerc also gave scathing comments after qualifying, saying it was “f***ing embarrassing” to finish ninth, then criticising the car afterwards, saying it cannot perform well in wet weather.
Hamilton told the BBC that he is mentally done with 2025 and described his race with nothing other than negativity.
“It’s a terrible result. There is nothing positive to take from today,” he said.
“I’m eager for it to end, I’m looking forward to it ending. I’m not looking forward to the next one.”
When asked whether he meant the next race in Qatar, which takes place this week, Hamilton responded: “Next season.”
