Coming into the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend, Charles Leclerc spoke about his new engagement to Alexandra Saint-Mleux, speculating which Formula 1 driver will be next.
Prior to their arrival at Interlagos, Leclerc and Saint-Mleux took to Instagram to announce they were taking the next step in their relationship.
The proposal was heavily centred around their long-haired dachshund, Leo, a fan favourite in the paddock, wearing a dog collar that read, “Dad wants to marry you”.
On Thursday, Leclerc was asked about his big decision and a step in his relationship, and he told the media, including Motorsport Week.
“Yeah, I mean, I’m very, very happy. Obviously, it was a special week, full of emotions. It’s a very special moment for anyone to do that step,” Leclerc said.
“And yeah, Alex and I are incredibly happy.”
He was asked which of his fellow drivers he thinks will be next to get down on one knee. He joked, “Easy. Pierre [Gasly]. I think Pierre. I need to put him under a bit of pressure. We grew up together, so you’re next.”

Leclerc praises ‘support’ from close circle of friends
The couple have been together since 2023, embarking on many ups and downs through Lelcerc’s career and on-track performances. The Monégasque was asked how involved she’s been with the sport itself.
“Incredibly engaged,” Leclerc said. “Not technically, of course, but as all of us, I think we are all human, and I think we are all supported by the people that are closest to us.”
“Alex is the closest person that I have with my family, obviously, and they live the career just like we do, basically.
“The ups, then the downs, and they support us in the best possible way. And Alex has done that since the very first day I met her. So yeah, she’s definitely a very important part of my life, obviously, but also of my career and the way you manage the ups and downs.
