Lando Norris set the fastest time in first practice for this weekend’s Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, after a flurry of fast laps at the end of the hour.
The Brit’s 1:33.294 was enough to see him to quickest, two tenths ahead of Sauber’s Nico Hulkenberg after an impressive lap.
Norris’ McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri was third, with Fernando Alonso in fourth, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Alex Albon was sixth, with George Russell seventh and Lewis Hamilton eighth, who had been top of the timesheets for much of the session, but showed considerable promise given he did not run the Soft tyre for the duration.
