Max Verstappen set a blistering pace in final practice for the F1 Singapore GP, with the top three drivers split by just one tenth of a second.
Track evolution and driver confidence were key in FP3 ahead of qualifying for the F1 Singapore GP, as drivers felt confidence around the Marina Bay Circuit, while grip proved elusive until the closing stages.
Liam Lawson’s self-inflicted woes continued unabated, the New Zealander bringing out the red flag after taking too much kerb at Turn 13, with 15 minutes gone, wrecking his Racing Bull.
After a short delay, the session resumed, with 35 minutes remaining, lap times falling fast as drivers rushed to gain valuable data ahead of qualifying.
Carlos Sainz Alex Albon and and Franco Colapinto had near misses with the barriers, locking up and taking to the escape road but able to continue.
A mixture of high and low fuel race runs masked the competitive order, but Lewis Hamilton looked to be trouble for a red flag infringement.
The final 15 minutes saw all drivers drain the fuel tanks and head out on qualifying runs, with Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and and Max Verstappen all had stints at the top of the standings.
Verstappen’s time of 1:30.148 was unbeatable, Oscar Piastri putting in a last gasp effort to place second at the chequered flag after a quiet session.
The two Mercedes cars finished third and fourth, their performance a stark contrast to Friday’s nadir and car struggles.
Norris and Sainz placed fifth and sixth, the McLaren with work to do to challenge his team-mate ahead of qualifying, with Isack Hadjar impressing once again in seventh.
Lewis Hamilton finished eighth, but was required to take a trip to the stewards for a red flag infringement, Hulkenberg and the second Ferrari of Leclerc rounded up the top ten.
Albon and Bortoleto placed 11th and 12th as they pushed to match the pace of their team-mates, with the Haas’ of Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman finishing 13th and 14th.
Fernando Alonso could not replicate his pace from Friday, finishing a disappointing 15th, Franco Colapinto splitting the two Aston Martins in 17th, with Yuki Tsuonda, Pierre Gasly and Lawson completing the standings.
