Oscar Piastri went fastest in FP2 for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, in an incident-filled session which saw multiple crashes, including between Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris.

The Australian’s 1:30.714s saw him go fastest late in the session, which was truncated by two red flags amid a flurry of incidents.

George Russell was the first to suffer, hitting the wall nose-first at Turn 16, breaking his Mercedes’ front wing and causing a front-left puncture.

The Brit was able to limp his W16 back to the pits but the session was over for him.

Liam Lawson was the cause of the second red flag, his Racing Bulls clouting the outside wall at Turn 17. The Kiwi’s front-right was sheared off, along with a puncture to the corresponding rear.

Lawson’s crash was just before the pit entry, and whilst able to also limp back to his garage, the session was halted once more.

The drama did not end there though, as Leclerc, just as the green flag was about to be wave, hit Norris when both were being released by their pit crews.

Norris suffered what appeared to be only minor front wing damage, but was wheeled back to his garage by his team, with assistance from the Ferrari crew, whose faces were all as red as their cars.

On track, Isack Hadjar took second place, just a tenth off Piastri’s time, with Max Verstappen coming on strong late in the session to take third.

Fernando Alonso, who took first place in FP1 earlier in the day, was an impressive fourth, buoying Aston Martin’s hopes of another good weekend.

Norris was still able to claim fifth spot, with Lance Stroll indicating significance in Aston’s showing with sixth.

Esteban Ocon was seventh, the Frenchman’s Haas occupying first place until cars re-emerged after the second red flag, with Carlos Sainz eighth, as he has been in FP1.

Leclerc was ninth, with team-mate Lewis Hamilton 10th. Yuki Tsunoda followed in 11th, with Oliver Bearman and Alex Albon just behind, the Anglo-Thai driver recovering from a rear brake fire earlier in the day.

Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto placed their Saubers 14th and 15th respectively, with Pierre Gasly hauling his Alpine into 16th.

Lawson’s curtailed afternoon saw him finish 17th, with Andrea Kimi Antonelli 18th, with Franco Colapinto 19th, and Russell bottom.
