The organisers of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix have appointed Katharina Nowak as its new president, making her the youngest ever to lead the event at just 28 years old.

Tom Garfinkel, managing partner of the Grand Prix and South Florida Motorsports, confirmed the announcement.

Nowak replaces Tyler Epp, who has led the race since its launch in 2022. During his tenure, the event achieved four consecutive sell-outs and won the 2024 Formula 1 Promoter of the Year award.

Attendance rose steadily, reaching 275,000 in 2025, while the 2023 race delivered a record 3.1 million U.S. television viewers. Epp is leaving for “an important role in the motorsports industry.”

“I am excited to announce Katharina as our President. She is one of the most talented young executives I’ve been around and I know she will continue to build on what has been established here – that we are committed to innovating fan experience and delivering a world-class event for drivers, teams and fans,” said Garfinkel.

“I also want to thank Tyler for his leadership. The Grand Prix simply wouldn’t be what it has grown into today without him.”

The Miami Grand Prix welcomes Nowak

Nowak joined the Miami Dolphins and Hard Rock Stadium in 2019. She has since held roles in events, partnerships and business operations.

She became vice president of the Grand Prix in 2024, directing strategy and negotiations with Formula 1 and partners.

Born in Vienna, she studied advertising and public relations at Loyola University Chicago.

“I am both humbled and excited to take on this new role as President,” said Nowak. “I want to thank Steve Ross, Tom and Tyler for their vision, investment and leadership. In this new chapter, our goals remain unchanged – we will continue to deliver an exceptional event for our stakeholders, with elite on-track action and fan-first experience at the centre of all we do.

“We have an incredible team committed to excellence, and I am eager to continue the work that has already begun.”

The announcement also included the promotion of John Murphy to managing director of South Florida Motorsports.

Murphy has been with the Grand Prix since 2022, most recently as vice president of Sporting & Racing Operations. He will now oversee all motorsport events at the Miami International Autodrome.

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Murphy previously spent seven years at Motorsport Australia, focusing on business development and commercial operations.
