Team Penske has announced that David Malukas will be joining the team and taking over the iconic #12 entry for the 2026 IndyCar season and beyond.

Malukas has had an eventful tenure in IndyCar so far, driving for Dale Coyne Racing, Meyer Shank Racing, and most recently AJ Foyt Racing in his four years in the series.

The 23-year-old also secured a contract with Arrow McLaren for a time, but a wrist injury sidelined him at the start of the 2024 season and the team eventually dropped him when his recovery took longer than expected.

Malukas was believed to be driving for Foyt last season as a way to keep him available to potentially slot into a seat at Team Penske, but it was unknown if one would be available.

When Will Power announced he would be moving on, that opened the way for Malukas to be promoted into a drive for the historic team.

“Racing for Team Penske is the goal for every young racecar driver, and I am honored to be one that gets to live out that dream,” said Malukas.

“Will Power is one of the legends of our sport and the #12 Verizon Chevrolet is one of the most-recognized cars on the grid. These are big shoes to fill, but I look at it as an opportunity because I know that it is one of the best teams in the paddock.”

Will Power has driven the entry since the 2009 season, but recently departed the team when contract extension talks broke down.

The veteran moves to Andretti Global next season, taking over Colton Herta’s seat as he moves away from IndyCar to pursue a path to Formula 1.

Malukas’ contract is a multi-year offer, and makes him the youngest driver on the three-car team.
