Championship leader Marc Marquez set a new lap record to top the second Misano MotoGP practice session.

The Spaniard demolished the previous record and posted a strong time of 1.30.480s on the Adriatic coast.

Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi and VR46’s Franco Morbidelli secured second and third place, lapping a tenth adrift.

Francesco Bagnaia lapped fourth fastest to secure a Q2 spot after his disastrous Barcelona campaign last week.

Alex Marquez and Gresini claimed fifth spot, closely followed by the factory Honda duo of Joan Mir and Luca Marini.

Jorge Martin finished in eighth place for Aprilia, automatically sealing a Q2 spot.

KTM’s Pedro Acosta finished in ninth place, while Fabio Di Giannantonio rounded off the top 10.

Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo finished 11th and 12th on the Honda and Yamaha.

The KTM duo of Brad Binder and Maverick Vinales ended the session in 13th and 14th place.

Raul Fernandez posted 15th for Trackhouse, as Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller ended his Friday in 16th.

Enea Bastianini and Fermin Aldeguer finished down in a surprise 17th and 18th, but lapped quicker than Yamaha’s Augusto Fernandez and Alex Rins.

Miguel Oliveira finished 22nd, sandwiched between premier class rookies Ai Ogura and Somkiat Chantra.
