Daniel Holgado took Moto2 victory in Qatar as Izan Guevara’s DNF allowed points leader Manuel Gonzalez to widen his advantage in the championship with a P6 finish.

After snatching the lead from Aleix Escrig on Lap 14, Daniel Holgado stormed to Moto2 victory in Qatar.

Ivan Ortola snatched second place in a dramatic drag race to the line, stealing P2 from Escrig by a fraction of a second (+0.020s), though the Forward Racing rider had fought bravely after starting from pole position.

David Alonso claimed fourth place ahead of Daniel Munoz in fifth.

However, the biggest winner under the Lusail lights was Manuel Gonzalez. Although the Spaniard could only secure sixth after running as high as third early on, he leaves Doha with a vital 13.5-point lead in the championship standings.

His chief title rival, Izan Guevara, suffered a devastating mechanical issue that forced his retirement, marking his worst result of the 2026 campaign.

With just two rounds remaining and 50 points left to play for, the race in Qatar could prove to be the ultimate turning point in the title fight. A battle that Manuel Gonzalez can win in Portimao (Portugal) in Round 21 of the Moto2 season.

Gonzalez’s Intact GP teammate Senna Agius finished seventh ahead of Jose Antonio Rueda in eighth.

Filip Salac and Celestino Vietti rounded out the top 10 ahead of Alonso Lopez in 11th, with Adrian Huertas and Joe Roberts following closely behind. Ayumu Sasaki and Barry Baltus claimed the final points-paying positions in 14th and 15th.
