Ferrari has unveiled a special 50th anniversary livery for this weekend’s Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix, in tribute to the late Niki Lauda.
The Scuderia’s colour scheme is a nod to the 312T challenger, which propelled the Austrian to his first Drivers’ title, scored with a third-place finish at the same race at Monza in 1975.
Not only did Lauda win the championship that day, but team-mate Clay Regazzoni won the race itself, ensuring a double celebration.
The additions of extra white on the car match that of the ’75 car, confirming the fourth successive special livery the team has sported at Monza.
Ferrari personnel will also wear a special blue team apparel over the weekend, as well as “specially designed” overalls, shoes and helmets.
The tribute will be additionally special for Lewis Hamilton, who enjoyed a special friendship with Lauda as he convinced him to join Mercedes back in 2013.
In 2019, Hamilton sported a replica design of Lauda’s famous red helmet on his way to victory at that year’s Monaco Grand Prix, the first race after Lauda’s death.

The matches the 1975 car in fine details, down to the typeface which spells out Charles Leclerc’s and Hamilton’s names, as well as the rectangular Ferrari logo, as opposed to its shield.
Ferrari says there will also be additional fan engagement activities throughout the Monza weekend, including an appearance from former driver Jean Alesi.
The Frenchman will get back behind the wheel of the 412 T2, the car he drove for Ferrari during the 1995 season, the last V12-powered car the team produced.
Ferrari will be hoping the occasion and the ever-passionate fans will help spur it on to a successful weekend, having yet to score a Grand Prix win so far this season.
