Lando Norris topped free practice for the second time on Friday ahead of this weekend’s Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort.
The Brit’s 1:09.890s was enough to see him double his money after topping the timesheets in FP1, with McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in second.
Both the papaya squad’s drivers were split by the Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso, eight hundredths of a second off Norris, and just two thousandths off Piastri.
But its pleasure at Alonso’s good showing will have been tempered by Lance Stroll’s heavy impact into barrier at the banked Turn 3 early on.
This brought out the first of two red flags, the Canadian’s right rear and front suspensions badly damaged by the crash.
George Russell was fourth, almost four tenths of a second off Norris’ time, with home hero Max Verstappen fifth, a further two tenths off Russell.
Lewis Hamilton was sixth in his Ferrari, despite his second 360 spin of the afternoon.
Yuki Tsunoda was seventh in the second Red Bull, but still around three tenths off Verstappen’s time.

Charles Leclerc could only manage eighth spot, with Franco Colapinto an encouraging ninth for Alpine, the Argentinian looking to begin a strong run with his Alpine seat under threat.
Nico Hulkenberg was 10 for Sauber, with Oliver Bearman’s Haas 11th, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli’s Mercedes 12th.
Gabriel Bortoleto was 13th, followed by the Racing Bulls of Liam Lawson and Esteban Ocon’s Haas.
Carlos Sainz was 16th, just ahead of Williams team-mate Alex Albon, whose session ended prematurely after skidding into the gravel and nudging the barriers at Turn 1.
This brought out the second red flag with around 20 minutes remaining.
Stroll’s brief appearance was enough for 18th, with Pierre Gasly 19th and Isack Hadjar 20th, the Frenchman having to pull off the circuit midway through the hour with a technical issue.
The session was also punctuated by an incident in the pitlane between Russell and Piastri, in what appeared to be a misunderstanding which saw the Mercedes having to stamp on the brakes to avoid the Australian’s McLaren as he turned to be brought back into his garage.
