Arrow McLaren announced on Monday that Linus Lundqvist will be with the team next weekend in a reserve capacity.
The 2022 IndyNXT champion will be available should the team’s primary driver for the #6 entry not be cleared to compete in Toronto.
Siegel was involved in a heavy crash late in Saturday’s race from Iowa Speedway. He walked away from the crash, but was not cleared to race in Sunday’s event due to concussion symptoms.
IndyCar’s medical team deemed that a second crash in such a short time period, if one came, could have produced more serious problems for the 20-year-old.
It is not yet known if he Siegel will be cleared to race on the streets of Toronto, so the team has brought on a reserve driver in case he is needed.
“Nolan Siegel will be evaluated by the IndyCar Medical Team on Thursday morning ahead of his travel to Toronto and will compete this weekend if cleared,” read the team’s statement.
“For precautionary planning purposes, Linus Lundqvist will join the team in Toronto in a reserve driver role, should Nolan not be cleared to compete through the Toronto race weekend.”
Lundqvist competed a full IndyCar season in 2024 as a rookie, earning two podiums and claiming the Rookie of the Year award.
He lost his ride when Chip Ganassi Racing downsized from four to three cars this season, however, and has been looking for an opportunity to get back in the car since.
Arrow McLaren’s final line-up for the upcoming race in Toronto should be announced on Thursday.
