Williams will offer fans the chance to help contribute to a one-off Formula 1 livery for the 2025 Sao Paulo Grand Prix in partnership with Gulf Oil.

After asking fans to choose its Gulf-themed racing colours in 2023, the Grove-based team will now allow fans to design a bespoke livery to be run at the Brazilian round.

Ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend, Williams and Gulf Oil International hosted a special event at Piccadilly Circus in London to unveil the ‘Driven by Words’ campaign.

Fans who wish to partake in the campaign will have until August 25 to submit five words a day that they believe embody Williams and partner Gulf.

Submissions can be made in any language and are open to fans worldwide who visit the team or Gulf’s websites.

“We are thrilled to continue writing Gulf’s exceptional racing history with our partner Atlassian Williams Racing. We share a united passion for racing, and we celebrate those who make it all matter – the fans,” said Gulf Oil International CEO, Mike Jones.

“This livery will be a first of its kind, ensuring fans are at the heart of the campaign by creating a design, utilising their words, on the iconic Gulf heritage livery. This livery will create a defining moment when it takes to the track in Brazil later in the season.”

Fans’ words of encouragement and support for the team will be displayed on the FW47, underlining Gulf’s trademark colours.

Back in 2023, Gulf and Williams launched the ‘Bolder than Bold’ campaign that saw over 180,000 fans choose a special livery that ran at Singapore, Japan, and Qatar.

“One of the great things about being an Atlassian Williams Racing driver is meeting our incredible fans from across the globe and seeing what the team means to them,” Alex Albon explained.

“Through this partnership with Gulf, we are giving them a unique chance to have those emotions written onto the car, and it will be an honour to have all those supporters with me when I race in Brazil.”

Williams boss James Vowles, who penned a long-term contract extension late last month, also reiterated the team’s continued push for enhanced fan engagement.

“We are delighted to unveil this new campaign with Gulf, uniting two icons of motorsport in a tribute to the people who fuel F1: the fans,” he said.

“Driven by Words is the latest example of our commitment to bring fans closer to the team than ever before, whether that is through fan zones, behind-the-scenes social media content or exclusive online experiences.

“Atlassian Williams Racing has one of the most loyal and passionate fanbases in sport, and I can’t wait to see their words transformed into an unmissable livery for the Brazilian Grand Prix.”
