Arvid Lindblad has completed his maiden Formula 1 test with Racing Bulls, driving the Red Bull satellite side’s 2023-spec AT04 car around Imola on Monday morning.
Lindblad was in action along with Ayumu Iwasa in the final machine to be run under the AlphaTauri moniker at the circuit which hosts the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
The Briton’s outing succeeded the news last week that he has secured an F1 superlicense, the FIA opting to give him a dispensation in response to Red Bull’s request.
Lindblad receiving a superlicense will allow him to compete in F1 sessions, with teams obliged to give rookie drivers four appearances in race weekends during 2025.
Racing Bulls has two more spots to cover through the remaining 14 rounds, while Iwasa’s showing in the RB20 in FP1 in Bahrain has ensured Red Bull has three more.
Lindblad has been backed to achieve a permanent F1 race drive at some stage, even as soon as 2026 to coincide with extensive changes to the technical regulations.
The Red Bull prospect earned his inaugural Feature Race win in Formula 2 at the previous event in Spain, propelling him up to third place in the Drivers’ Championship.
