French tyre outfit Michelin will become the WorldSBK’s official tyre supplier from 2027 after signing a five-year agreement.
Michelin currently serves as the MotoGP tyre supplier, but Pirelli will take over in 2027, resulting in a direct swap between paddocks.
This five-year partnership runs through to the 2031 season, with the shared commitment of “innovation, sustainability, safety, and ongoing development benefiting motorcycle users.”
Michelin will supply tyres for all categories in the WorldSBK championship, including WorldSBK, World Supersport, Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship and the newly formed World Sportbike class.
WorldSBK’s official statement read: Michelin will focus specifically on continuous improvement in tyre quality, durability, and safety, aligning closely with the Championship’s high technical standards and competitive spirit.
Michelin’s extensive motorsport experience and technological know-how will ensure consistent performance across diverse conditions and the range of tracks featured on the Championship calendar, supporting teams and riders in maintaining a highly competitive field throughout the season.
This news means that Pirelli will leave the paddock at the end of the 2026 season, bringing an end to a 22-year partnership that began in 2004.
Pirelli was a key counterpart in the series and established the championship “as the first global motorsport series to adopt a single tyre supplier.”
Formula 1 became the sole tyre supplier for Formula 1 in 2011, and have remained ever present on the grid.
