The forthcoming Cadillac Formula 1 team has forged a sponsorship deal with American clothing giants Tommy Hilfiger, becoming the team’s first partner.
Cadillac, which was officially confirmed as the 11th F1 team on the grid for next year back in March, has taken the opportunity to acquire the brand as an “official apparel partner,” according to Forbes magazine.
The brand, which was created in 1985, has had a longstanding interest in F1, having produced clothing for three teams in its history: Team Lotus, Ferrari and Mercedes.
Its involvement with the German marque was its most recent venture in the sport, and ended upon the team’s new clothing deal with Adidas.
During its stint with Mercedes, the brand struck-up additional clothing tie-ins with Lewis Hamilton, prior to his switch to the Italian giants this year.
Tommy Hilfiger also has produced a range of clothing for the fictional APXGP team that will adorn the big screen this month in F1 The Movie, starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.
The brand and its famous logo is expected to grace the team kit, overalls and helmets for Cadillac, which is also an official partner for the all-female F1 Academy support series.

Cadillac and Tommy Hilfiger: ‘Two iconic American brands come together’
Tommy Hilfiger himself was quoted to have conveyed his excitement about the collaboration, saying: “These two iconic American brands come together with a colorful history in visual culture. I love racing’s iconic graphics.
“The uniforms are very cool with patches, logos, and team names. It’s rich in design territory. We had insight into the Cadillac team’s design direction; it will look incredible across the collections.”
“Tommy has known Formula 1 for a long time. It’s the pinnacle of motorsport, like Cadillac is for luxury automobiles,” said Graeme Lowdon, its Team Principal. “Cadillac’s brand values are bold, sophisticated, and optimistic.
“That was a natural fit with the Tommy Hilfiger brand. Combining this offers an ambitious, confident outlook. The chemistry, vision, and passion felt right from the start. Racing is about passion and desire to win.”
