Alpine’s Franco Colapinto has been penalised for a pit lane incident during qualifying for the 2025 Formula 1 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
The young Argentine exited his team’s garage before the other drivers, following the red flag caused by Yuki Tsunoda’s crashed Red Bull.
After the session, the stewards determined that he had entered the fast lane in the pit lane before a re-start time was confirmed.
Therefore, a grid penalty of one place has been handed to him as his return to the F1 grid was further dented by a heavy impact with the barriers in Q2, ending his qualifying at Imola prematurely.
George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli have already received identical grid penalties for a similar incident earlier this season, following qualifying at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
