Jack Doohan has expressed that losing his race seat with Alpine to Franco Colapinto a mere six races into the 2025 Formula 1 season has been a “tough one to take”.
Alpine has announced the anticipated news that Colapinto will drive alongside Pierre Gasly from the next event at Imola, with Doohan moving back into a reserve role.

Doohan entered his rookie campaign with intensive rumours regarding his position, which was accentuated when Alpine agreed a deal with Williams to hire Colapinto.
And although he had shown promise in spells, Doohan being involved in numerous incidents contributed to a point-less return that has triggered an immediate switch.
The Australian, who conducted his F1 debut at the season finale in Abu Dhabi in 2024, admitted that his premature return to the sidelines has come as a natural blow.
“I am very proud to have achieved my lifelong ambition to be a professional Formula 1 driver, and I will forever be grateful to the team for helping me achieve this dream,” Doohan said.
“Obviously, this latest chapter is a tough one for me to take because, as a professional driver, naturally I want to be racing.”

Doohan vows to ‘keep working hard’
But with an evaluation to take place once Colapinto’s five-race deal ends, Doohan has insisted that he will continue to give his utmost to help the team make progress.
“That said, I appreciate the team’s trust and commitment,” he continued.
“We have long-term goals as a team to achieve, and I will continue to give my maximum efforts in any way I can to help achieve those.
“For now, I will keep my head down, keep working hard, watch with interest the next five races and keep chasing my own personal goals.”
