The opening session at the 2025 F1 Saudi Arabian GP was run in the light of day

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly went fastest during opening practice for the 2025 Formula 1 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

The Frenchman set a benchmark 1:29.239s laptime in the daytime session, 0.007s faster than McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third fastest, 0.070s behind Gasly, with Bahrain GP winner Oscar Piastri and Williams’ Alex Albon rounding out the top five.

The top four were covered by 0.102s, with Albon’s effort a further two and a half tenths back.

Mercedes’ George Russell was sixth ahead of Albon’s Williams team-mate Carlos Sainz and Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton.

The two Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda rounded out the top-10.
