Carlos Sainz has given his reaction to his first outing in the Williams FW47 ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Williams hosted a special livestream broadcast of its 2025 season launch at Silverstone on Friday.

The FW47, clad in a special livery celebrating new title partner Atlassian, left the garage for the first time with new signing Sainz at the wheel on Friday morning.

A short installation run was carried out and Sainz swiftly returned to the garage and his first assessment of the Williams FW47 was a positive one.

“I can tell you everything went fine which is good news,” Sainz said in an interview with 2009 F1 champion Jenson Button as he hopped out of the Williams FW47.

“An install lap of a newly born car is always a bit tricky but everything worked as it should and now we’re ready to get into the run plan.

“Now, first I need to give the feedback to the engineers on the two or three things that I felt could be improved, the feeling inside the cockpit and everything I want to talk to them about.

“Then we will get the car ready to run on slicks and probably start pushing it little by little.”

Short offseason for Sainz amid Williams switch

Sainz has joined Williams on a multi-year deal after his four-season tenure at Ferrari came to an end at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Swapping Maranello for Grove is a big change for the Spaniard and he admitted his off-season was shorter as a result.

“It’s been a shorter break, but also when you change teams that break becomes even shorter because you have to go back to work earlier,” he said.

“There’s a lot of catch-up you need to do and I’ve been spending quite a bit of time here in the UK getting up to speed with my new team.”
