Sergio Aguero and Brooklyn Peltz Beckham are just two of the celebrities announced by Formula E to take part in an upcoming event at Miami’s Formula 1 venue.

Formula E Evo Sessions will be a two-day event over the 5th and 6th of March and will be held at the Miami International Autodrome, incorporating the Hard Rock Stadium.

The action and build-up will be featured on the all-electric series’ social and digital platforms, with a feature documentary to follow later in the year.

11 celebrities will be given rigorous coaching, fitness training and simulator work, and each one will be paired with one of the 11 teams currently on the grid.

The grid in question has a combined social media reach of over 300 million, and the first six participants have been named.

Brooklyn Peltz Beckham

The eldest child of English football legend David Beckham and Spice Girl Victoria, Brooklyn has dipped his toe in modelling, photography and cookery – is motor racing his next interest?

In a statement released by Formula E, Beckham said: “I’ve loved motorsport all my life, so when the opportunity came to be a part of Evo Sessions with Formula E, I jumped at the chance.

“I love it as a sport, but it’s an incredible opportunity to actually get behind the wheel and experience what it takes to compete at the top level of motorsport.

“The performance of the cars is insane, so I’m pleased I’ll be learning from the best in how to get the most out of them.”

Sergio Aguero

If former footballer Aguero can drive a car as well as he could find the back of the net, he will be a likely victor.

Manchester City’s record goalscorer, the Argentine is also the the third-highest in Premier League history, and is perhaps best-known for his stoppage time winner against QPR that won the Premier League title for the sky blue club in 2012.

He retired aged 33 in 2021 whilst playing for Barcelona due to heart problems.

Cleo Abram

A video journalist specialising in tech explainers, Abram’s YouTube channel has over five million subscribers, accrued over the last three years since leaving Vox.

Lucien Laviscount

Best known worldwide for his role in the Netflix series Emily in Paris, Laviscount has already acquainted himself with the Formula E world, having been present for the Mexico City E-Prix weekend earlier in the month, and even waved the chequered flag at the end of the race.

The Brit has also been recently touted as one of the actors in the frame to be cast as the seventh James Bond.

Emilia Hartford

Hartford is best known for her work customising Corvette V8s, and has built-up over 1.5 million YouTube subscribers since 2017.

She also currently holds the quarter-mile record for the new generation Nissan Z, with a time of 7.75 seconds, which she set just last month. Reaching a top speed of 181.85 mph, the record makes her the owner of the fastest Nissan Z in the world, which was built from her own fair hand in her home garage.

Vinnie Hacker

A social media personality, Hacker started his TikTok account in 2019, which, along with his modelling and Twitch streaming, he has an alleged worth of $2 million.

Formula E Evo Sessions will see our world-class drivers put 11 of the world’s biggest personalities through their paces as they get to grips with the GEN3 Evo ⚡️

FE thinks outside the box for its two-month gap conundrum

March was supposed to be the month of an inaugural E-Prix in Thailand, but political circumstances within the country put paid to those plans.

Speaking to Motorsport Week at pre-season testing, FE’s CEO Jeff Dodds teased the Evo Sessions idea, calling it an “exciting, disruptive way of trying to grow the fanbase,” suggesting it would be more interesting than hosting an E-Prix at a fixed, common or garden circuit.

In FE’s statement, Dodds conveyed his excitement at the event.

“The initial reaction when I presented the concept of ‘Evo Sessions’ to our teams and partners was, ‘this is wild!’ – which is when I immediately knew we had to bring it to life,” he said.

“We wanted to do something that has never been done before in motorsport; something that would give audiences and our fan base a unique perspective into the world of a Formula E driver, through the eyes of some of their favourite online personalities.

“Formula E is the fastest growing motorsport in the world, and we have a clear target to hit half a billion fans by 2030. Through collaborating with some of the biggest names in popular culture right now, we’re able to open up Formula E to a whole new fanbase.

“I’ve been lucky enough to get behind the wheel of a Formula E racing car, but this event will be truly eye opening on what it takes to be an elite racing driver. It will uncover the world-class ability of the drivers and teams alike and highlight the raw skill and ingenuity we have in the championship.”
