Lando Norris wins the final race of the 2024 Formula 1 season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as McLaren secures the Constructors’ Championship.

McLaren’s Norris led from pole position as his team-mate Oscar Piastri, who started from second, was spun around by Max Verstappen sending him down to last place.

Verstappen received a 10-second time penalty for the collision as Piastri also received the same penalty for making contact with the rear end of the Williams car, Franco Colapinto.

Carlos Sainz inherited second after the race start and finished on the podium in his last race for Ferrari, but the Prancing Horse lost the team championship despite both drivers finishing inside the top five.

Charles Leclerc, starting from 19th, finished on the podium behind Sainz but it wasn’t meant to be for Ferrari in the Constructors’ fight.

Lewis Hamilton fought back from 16th on the grid, due to a poor qualifying, to finish fourth in his final outing for Mercedes – where he won six F1 Drivers’ Titles with the Silver Arrows.

George Russell rounded off the top five in the other Mercedes and the 2024 F1 champion Verstappen finished sixth after contact earlier in the race with Piastri.

Pierre Gasly finished seventh to secure a vital sixth place in the Constructors’ midfield battle for Alpine against Haas.

Nico Hulkenberg, in his final race for Haas, ended up in eighth place but it wasn’t enough for the American outfit to snatch sixth in the team standings.

Fernando Alonso finished in ninth for Aston Martin and Piastri rounded off the top 10 with a single point in a chaotic race for the Australian driver.
