McLaren‘s Lando Norris set the fastest time in the second practice for the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.

Norris’ 1:30.727s time in the special-liveried McLaren saw him out-pace Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc by a fraction.

Leclerc, fastest in opening practice, was bettered by Norris by just 0.058s in FP2 – with the Scuderia’s pace looking strong.

The top two had a bit of breathing room over the rest of the field with third-placed Carlos Sai nz 0.629s off of the ultimate pace.

RB continued to impress with Yuki Tsunoda in fourth and Daniel Ricciardo in sixth with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri sandwiched between them in fifth.

Mercedes’ George Russell was next up behind Ricciardo, taking seventh, but he found the barriers at Turn 8 with less than two minutes of the session remaining.

Singapore was Red Bull’s bogey track in 2023 and its struggles in 2024 look set to continue.

Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen could only muster 8th and 15th respectively with the Red Bull’s one-lap pace looking poor.

“I have no grip in the low speed, front and rear,” Verstappen said over team radio as Perez said his RB20 was “all over the place.”

Rounding out the top-10 were Williams’ Alex Albon and Haas Nico Hulkenberg.

Lewis Hamilton outside the top-10, way off Lando Norris’ pace

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton was struggling early on in the session, coming into the pits when 18th to make changes to his W15.

The changes had a marginal effect and Hamilton was able to improve to 11th by the time the session came to an end, 0.982s off the pace.

Unhappy, Hamilton exclaimed “It’s unbelievable” over Team Radio once the session concluded.

Fernando Alonso led the Aston Martin charge in 12th, with Kevin Magnussen the filling in an Aston sandwich as Lance Stroll went 14th fastest.

Behind 15th-placed Verstappen was Williams’ Franco Colapinto, who continued to acclimatise upon his Singapore debut.

Next up were the two Alpine entries with Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly in 17th and 18th respectively.

Propping up the field was Sauber, with Zhou Guanyu leading Valtteri Bottas.
