After winning its second FIA World Endurance Championship race last time out at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ferrari’s 499P LMHs have gained weight ballast in the Balance of Performance figures for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo.

The Ferrari 499P won just its second race with a back-to-back Le Mans 24 Hours victory last month, this time being the #50 Hypercar compared to the #51 in last year’s Centenary Edition.

Other races so far where a potential victory fell out of their grasp includes Imola when all three 499Ps asserted potency in qualifying, and also at Spa-Francorchamps which was resumed after an extensive red flag period.

The championship fight is set to continue at the FIA WEC’s first time at Sao Paulo since 2014.

Balance of Performance adjustments will see Ferrari gain 17 kilograms (kg) and lose 5 Kilowatts (kW) of power output, however, a significant 3.5% increase to their second stage of power puts them at a positive rather than a negative figure in efforts to counter the loss in power and added weight.

Meanwhile another significant change will be for Isotta Fraschini’s Tipo 6-C, which finished its first Le Mans 24 Hours, with an 18 kg loss.

An addition of five more kW of power output prompts Isotta’s best possible chances at attaining a strong result at sixth round of the 2024 FIA WEC if they encounter smooth reliability and minimal dramas.

Cadillac Racing continue with their single, full-season #2 V-Series.R co-driven by Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber, who will experience 10kW more power but with a 1.50% decrease after 250 kph and three more kilograms of weight.

These carefully calculated BoP figures [see tables below] continue to bring the competition on a more equal playing field, and intended so for the rain-soaked Le Mans race.

A grid of 19 Hypercars and 18 LMGT3s will take to the Autodromo de Interlagos this Sunday 14 July to see who will seek thrills and spills around the historic Brazilian venue.
