IndyCar tackled the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course over the weekend, a natural terrain road course set in the hilly countryside and surrounded by fans camping for the event.

The race ended up being a titanic battle between Pato O’Ward and Alex Palou. The Spaniard led the first half of the race, but a long pit stop cost him the lead and O’Ward earned his second win of the season.

Palou was hot on O’Ward’s heels during the final 10 laps, but passing proved very difficult and he was not able to do anything once he got up to his competitor’s gearbox.

The hybrid system did not quite have a flawless debut, as Scott Dixon suffered a failure with the new components before the race even started. He rolled to a stop on the parade laps

IndyCar is on track again next weekend, and drivers will be tasked with yet another new challenge. They will have to figure out how best to use the hybrid system while racing a double-header on the short oval of Iowa Speedway.
