Dale Coyne Racing has announced that Luca Ghiotto will be back with the team for the next two IndyCar rounds.

The 29-year-old was brought into the series for the first time earlier in the year, racing for DCR at Barber Motorsports Park and the Indianapolis road course.

He will reprise his role in the #51 at Road America this weekend and at Laguna Seca in late June.

“I’m very happy to be returning behind the wheel of the No. 51 Dale Coyne Racing entry for the next two races,” Ghiotto said.

“I enjoyed my first two races in the NTT IndyCar Series and had a great time working with Jack [Harvey] and everyone at DCR. I look forward to working with them again and help the team continue to make progress over the next two races.”

In his first two IndyCar races, Ghiotto finished 21st and 25th but largely stayed out of trouble during his debut.

The Italian former F2 driver is one of five different drivers that have been tasked with driving the #51 this season, and his four starts in the car will give him the most experience with the team this year.

“Luca made a good impression on us in his first races with the team,” DCR owner Dale Coyne said.

“He got up to speed quickly with no testing whatsoever before getting in the car, and he was a good addition to the team. We look forward to working with him again and having him back behind the wheel of our No. 51 car for the next two races.”

The XPEL Grand Prix from Road America gets underway Sunday, June 9 at 3:30 PM eastern time.
