German driver Tim Tramnitz is to test for ABT Cupra in the FIA Formula E rookie tests at both Misano and Berlin, with the team apparently at risk of losing Nico Müller to Tag Heuer Porsche.
Tramnitz, who currently sits in sixth place in the FIA F3 standings and is also part of the Red Bull Junior Team, will take to the track in the FP0 session prior to the Misano E-Prix as well as the rookie test after the Berlin E-Prix.
“I am really looking forward to the ABT team and the Formula E test”, said Tramnitz, adding: “first few hours last year were already a lot of fun – and it’s always cool to sit in a race car.
“I especially like working with the engineers when we look at and analyze all the data, because it’s much more comprehensive than it is for me in Formula 3.
“I can learn a lot and take a lot with me.”
News of Tramnitz’s forthcoming track time comes after The Race reported the revelation that their race driver Müller tested for Porsche between the Diriyah and São Paulo races earlier in the year. The Swiss is believed to be out of contract at the end of the season and a potential move seems a very high possibility.
With title leader Pascal Wehrlein said to be tied-down to a long-term deal, Antonio Felix da Costa could be at risk, which would be a double blow for the Portuguese, who, at the behest of Porsche, chose not to return to WEC for this season in order to fully focus on his commitments to FE with the team.
