Carlos Sainz topped Day 2 of Formula 1 pre-season testing, clocking a time of 1:29.921s and completing 84 laps in the process.

The afternoon session was extended by an hour after a loose drain curtailed this morning’s running.

Sainz sat 0.8s ahead of second fastest Sergio Perez who was trailed by the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton. Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo completed the top five.

After topping the morning session, Charles Leclerc dropped to sixth ahead of Lance Stroll, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas and Oscar Piastri.
