McLaren has become the first Formula 1 team to reveal its livery for the upcoming season, a few weeks in advance of the launch of its MCL38.

McLaren will present its 2024 car, the MCL38, on February 14 but on Tuesday it released imagery of the tweaked colour scheme which will adorn the car.

McLaren describes the livery as papaya and anthracite, with elements of chrome embedded within the scheme, after its one-off return at last year’s British Grand Prix.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will continue to race for McLaren in 2024.

The pair, entering their sixth and second seasons respectively, scored nine podiums across the 2023 campaign as McLaren recovered from a lowly start to finish fourth overall.

Andrea Stella remains as Team Principal with new recruits Rob Marshall (Engineering & Design Technical Director) and David Sanchez (Car Concept & Performance Technical Director) now fully operational at McLaren.

Marshall and Sanchez join Aerodynamics Technical Director Peter Prodromou in a three-pronged structure that reports to Stella.

“We’re delighted to launch our 2024 Formula 1 livery ahead of the new season,” said CEO Zak Brown. “The design looks awesome, and I can’t wait to go racing and see it come to life on track next month.

“We didn’t start 2023 as we wanted but Andrea and the team did a great job following the organisational restructure coming into action, and the hard work continues as we carry that excellent momentum into the 2024 campaign.

“I’m confident the exciting pairing of Lando and Oscar will continue to create more mega memories together after such an impressive second half of last year which saw the team finish fourth in the championship with 302 points.

“These are all steps forward from the year before as we continue our mission to push and compete at the front of the grid.”
