Take a look at Toyota’s striking new livery for the 2024 WEC season

Toyota has unveiled a striking new look for its GR010 Hypercar, due to race in the FIA World Endurance Championship once again next year.

The new livery is matte black, with red and white highlights and a silver roof, which reflects sunlight and keeps temperatures in the cockpit down. Toyota calls this concept ‘Prototype’ and says it represents “making ever-better motorsports-bred cars and to keep evolving.”

This livery is a change from the previous white and red livery the Japanese manufacturer had been using, with the colours representing the nation’s national identity. Toyota raced in that livery, or variations of, from 2016 until 2023, winning its first 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 2018, and also taking the 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 race wins, as well as both WEC championships in those years, plus the WEC championships in 2023.

However, Toyota did not start racing in the white and red livery. It began in WEC with a blue and white livery, when it debuted in 2012, the first year of WEC competition. The team’s first LMP1 car, the TS030, was also presented in a red and white livery before it raced, before switching to the blue and white for its first race.

Alongside Toyota’s new look in WEC, the manufacturer also has a new look in the World Rally Championship, in which it also competes, with the concept of the livery on its GR Yaris largely matching the GR010’s.

The FIA World Endurance Championship season starts on Saturday 2nd March, with the 1812km of Qatar. The now-traditional testing event, The Prologue, takes place in the days before, also at Qatar.
