Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the opening practice session for this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
The reigning World Champion clocked a 1:22.657 to lead Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz by just 0.046s, with their respective team-mates third and fourth.
George Russell wound up fifth, three positions ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes pair were separated by Fernando Alonso and Lando Norris.
Yuki Tsunoda hauled his AlphaTauri into the top 10, ahead of Alex Albon’s Williams.
Meanwhile, Felipe Drugovich, driving in FP1 for Aston Martin in place of Lance Stroll, set the 18th quickest time.
