In the first two years of their partnership, it’s been announced that Formula E and UNICEF have helped 2.5 million children and young people across the world.
The incredible figure was revealed on Monday ahead of this weekend’s season finale in London, with the duo closing in on their goal of helping 3 million children in the first three years of their partnership.
Formula E partnered with the international children’s charity in 2021, with the all-electric series having since supported UNICEF’s climate programmes as part of the Safe and Healthy Environment Fund.
Back in 2021 when their collaboration began, Formula E became the first international sporting organisation to partner with UNICEF to combat climate change, with their partnership having the purpose of ensuring that children across the world can live in a safe, clean and sustainable environment.
Since partnering with UNICEF, one of their localised projects has supported more than 17,000 students and local villages in three Mexican states. The partnership funded the installation of rainwater capture and purification systems in schools across the three areas.
Another localised project saw more than 50,000 people in the Caribbean receive climate change education training, to ensure that children are educated properly on what’s happening to the planet.

Formula E’s funding to UNICEF also supports the charity’s global climate programmes, which sees plastic waste turned into schools and education facilities fitted with solar panels.
“Children are bearing the brunt of the impacts of climate change – and children living in fragile countries and vulnerable communities are being hit the hardest,” stated Gautam Narasimhan, Global Lead for Climate, Energy, & Environment at UNICEF.
“Today, one billion children are already at extremely high risk from the impacts of climate change.
“As the first global sport organisation to support UNICEF’s climate programmes, Formula E continues to help us raise awareness and provides vital funds for children around the world, helping transform the lives of children and their families.
