Haas hints at unchanged 2024 F1 driver line-up

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner has hinted that his squad will make no changes to its driver line-up for the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg currently hold the seats at Haas, each boasting vast experience in the series.

Magnussen raced for Haas from 2017 to 2020 before being dropped for the 2021 campaign.

However, he was brought back on the eve of the 2022 season after Haas parted ways with Nikita Mazepin following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Hulkenberg made his F1 comeback with Haas this year as the team opted to drop Mick Schumacher after two seasons, seeking experience rather than youth.

As it looks to make strides back towards consistently competing in the midfield, Steiner suggested that Haas will not change its line-up for next year.

“Driver market wise I think at the moment we are pretty happy with what we have got,” he said.

“We want to be able to announce our drivers as soon as possible so we don’t have to hang around like last year for a long time, telling you guys ‘it will be next race’, it gets boring.”

Haas has appeared in the points three times already this year, with its best result coming at the Australian Grand Prix where Hulkenberg crossed the line in seventh place.

Steiner also addressed Haas’ partnership with Ferrari, having used the Italian manufacturer’s Power Units since its maiden F1 season in 2016.

“On the other side, on the Ferrari side, in the short to mid term, we stay with them,” he said.

“There’s no point to change. You’ve got a year like this it doesn’t mean you have to jump like this,” he added, referring to the troubled start to the 2023 campaign that Ferrari has endured.
