The FIA has confirmed that it is investigating the late pit lane incident involving Alpine’s Esteban Ocon at Formula 1’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Ocon extended his stint on Hard tyres in the hope of a late Safety Car period of race suspension presenting an opportunity.
However on the penultimate of the 51 laps he came into the pits to make his mandatory stop.
As he did so there were a plethora of personnel in the fast lane in anticipation of the post-race celebrations.
Ocon only narrowly avoided striking the personnel as he continued in the fast lane.
Ocon made his pit stop and resumed to complete the race in 15th place.
