Dennis: Podium in Berlin was a ‘needed’ morale boost

Jake Dennis, Avalanche Andretti Formula E , 2nd position, Podium

Jake Dennis returned to winning ways in Berlin, putting his season back on track after a difficult string of results.

There was no denying after the first three rounds of Season 9 that Dennis would be one of the contenders for the championship, having not finished off of the podium in the opening three races.

However, a series of incidents and bad luck saw the Briton come to the Berlin double header having not scored a point since January, eating into the points buffer he had built in the opening rounds.

His podium in the second race of the Berlin doubleheader and the improving single-lap pace of the Andretti that saw him progress to the duels in both qualifying sessions is a welcome return to form to get his season back on track.

After the race, Dennis remarked how important the result in Berlin was for his own mindset and the team around him.

“It was a deep dark place yesterday after the crash with Antonio, I could see the team quite down, it wasn’t a great place, so I needed this for my team.”

“We put in all of this hard work and spend all of this time away so it’s obviously important to keep the morale high. To come away with 18 points, I needed it for myself, I need it for the championship”

Dennis will hope the positive trajectory continues, especially in qualifying, as the series heads to Monaco in a fortnight.
