Which 2023 F1 car livery did fans choose as their favourite?

All 10 cars have been launched for the 2023 Formula 1 season – and the verdict is in for which looks the best.

In a poll conducted by formula1.com, more than 80,000 fans took part to decide which car they believe is the most visually pleasing ahead of the new campaign.

Taking 31 per cent of the votes and the winner of the poll is Mercedes, who has returned to a black livery, similar to what was used in 2020 and 2021.

The team has admitted that a large factor behind its decision to return to the black scheme is weight-saving, which was an issue for many teams last year.

“When you look at where the story of the Silver Arrows came from, it’s that the Mercedes was put on track – the race car, it was white, overweight, a little bit of our story last year – and they scratched off the paint, and it ended up with bare aluminium, and the car made the weight,” said team boss Toto Wolff.

“So we came back, we really tried to get the weight off the car in every single bit and therefore on the paint side we committed in gaining the grams by leaving the car matte carbon, and history repeats itself.

“Just in this case it’s a modern material, carbon, and not aluminium, and it’s black.

Mercedes enters the year looking to bounce back from a difficult campaign that saw it secure just a single grand prix victory.

Second place in the vote was Ferrari – despite surprising no one with a red livery, the Maranello-based squad impressed fans with its paint scheme for the new year, with 19 per cent choosing the Italian team’s colours.

Following Mercedes and Ferrari in the voting were Alfa Romeo, Red Bull and Aston Martin, the latter two teams not altering much compared to last year.

  1. Mercedes – 31 per cent
  2. Ferrari – 19 per cent
  3. Alfa Romeo – 15 per cent
  4. Red Bull – 8 per cent
  5. Aston Martin 7 per cent
