The 2023 Formula 1 season is shaping up to be an exciting year for racing fans, with a record 23 races and 6 Sprints on the newly approved FIA Formula 1 World Championship calendar. From Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari to Monaco, Bahrain and Miami, getting ready for three days on 23 weekends of high-speed thrills, it’s going to be an epic season.

With 10 teams, 20 drivers and multiple continentals hosting Grands Prix at their circuits and with rounds in Monaco and Las Vegas, there’s fast-paced red-flag action all season long. Let’s find out what to expect in Formula 1 racing in 2023…

Overview of the 2023 Formula 1 season

The 2023 Formula 1 season promises to be an exciting one, as several changes have been made to the race calendar and venues. With 23 races and six Sprints scheduled, fans will have plenty of opportunities to follow their favourite teams and drivers.

Increased number of races and sprints

In 2023, there will be a total of 23 races (there is no longer a grand prix in China) and six Sprints races to boot. The number of races has increased from 21 in 2022, and there will now be double the sprint races too. Sprint races are short-length events that run the day before the main grand prix over a distance of 100km to determine the starting positions for the main event plus of course another 10 championship points on offer to the winner.

Teams and drivers

The 2023 Formula 1 season will feature 10 teams, each with two drivers. Fans can expect to see Formula 1 veterans such as Mercedes, Red Bull Racing, McLaren, and Ferrari bringing their expertise to the grid. Some drivers are making their debut in 2023 while others are coming back after taking a break.

If you believe some debut drivers such as Oscar Piastri will cause an upset, here are some of the Best F1 Betting sites for your wagers.

Start date for the season

The start date for the 2023 Formula 1 season is the 5th of March when the lights go out for the 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix and will conclude at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on the 26th of November. This year’s calendar includes several exciting locations for fans to look forward to, such as Monaco, Miami, Las Vegas, Singapore, Bahrain and Las Vegas.

New locations added to the calendar

Several new locations have been added to this year’s Formula 1 calendar. These include Las Vegas, which is making its return after a 40 year absence, and Qatar which missed out last year due to the World Cup being played in the small Gulf state. As well as these new locations, several existing venues have undergone modifications before the start of the season.

The Monaco Grand Prix remains unchanged

The Monaco Grand Prix remains on this year’s schedule. No changes have been made to its circuit layout since its last outing in 2022. It is expected that fans will return when racing resumes in Monaco once again this year.

Las Vegas returns after a 40 year absence

Las Vegas has not hosted an F1 event since 1982 but is set to make a triumphant return in 2023. Fans can expect a thrilling race weekend with all the glamour and sophistication that comes with the sin city location.

Conclusion

The upcoming 2023 Formula 1 season promises to be an exciting one with more races than ever before and several new race venues offering fans more action-packed events than ever before. Fans can look forward to watching their favourite teams compete as they take on some of the world’s most challenging circuits in pursuit of the coveted championship title.
