Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich says he is keen to add a racing programme to his 2023 season.
Drugovich won this year’s Formula 2 championship and took up a test and reserve position with Aston Martin in Formula 1.
The Brazilian will share reserve driver duties with reigning Formula E champion Stoffel Vandoorne.
Drugovich tested Aston Martin’s AMR21 prior to his public appearances in the AMR22 in Abu Dhabi, where he participated in FP1 and the post-race young driver test.
Drugovich’s predecessor as Formula 2 champion, Oscar Piastri, did not race in 2022 as he occupied an Alpine reserve role before securing a McLaren seat.
But Drugovich is eager to remain active alongside his Formula 1 duties.
“I will be doing the reserve role for Aston Martin, I’m going to be following the team and learning as much as I can, I’ll do a few FP1s as well, that’s something very nice to look forward [to]”, said Drugovich at the FIA Gala.
“The team is keen to let me do something else, which I don’t know yet, but we’re trying to see if there is an opportunity to just keep racing, but the priority is also going to be Formula 1.”
On which categories he’d be keen to explore, Drugovich said: “We have no real direction until now – I’m just hoping I can race something professionally, and something that doesn’t really clash with Formula 1.
“It has to be a programme that doesn’t take too much from my year. Anything over [sic – above] Formula 2 I’ll look at – Hypercar, Super Formula, I don’t know what yet. [Le Mans] would be amazing.”
