Carlos Sainz ended the first free practice session from the Circuit of the Americas as the fastest driver ahead of Max Verstappen.

Aston Martin also showed strong pace, with Lance Stroll completing the session in fourth place.
There were a number of non-full-time drivers competing during the 60-minute outing, the fastest of which was Alex Palou in the McLaren.
Antonio Giovinazzi’s session in the Haas ended early on, after he spun into the barriers.
