Hamilton: It’s nice to know how Alonso feels about me
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Lewis Hamilton has responded to Fernando Alonso’s critical radio message following their collision at Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix.

Hamilton attempted to overtake Alonso around the outside of Turn 7 at Spa-Francorchamps as they battled for second place on the opening lap.

However, contact was made between the two, which resulted in Hamilton’s first retirement of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

“I had a really good tow on Fernando and did a move down the outside,” Hamilton said. “I got up alongside him and a little bit ahead of him, thought I left enough room for him and I didn’t, and I paid the price for it. So it’s my fault, and just sorry to my team really.”

Although Hamilton retired, Alonso was able to continue in the grand prix with no significant damage and eventually classified in fifth.

“What an idiot,” Alonso commented on his team radio shortly after the shunt. “Closing the door from the outside.

“I mean, we had a mega start but this guy only knows how to drive and start in first.”

Hamilton was informed post-race of Alonso’s comments, to which he replied: “I don’t really have a response to it.

“I know that how things feel in the heat of the moment, but it’s nice to know how he feels about me.

“And so I better it’s better that it’s out in the open how he feels. And like I said it wasn’t intentional. And I take responsibility for that’s what adults do. So it is what it is.”

When asked if he would seek out Alonso to talk about the incident, Hamilton asserted: “No, no, I mean, I would have until I heard what he said.”

Hamilton’s car was pitched into a vertical angle as he was launched into the air, which resulted in a hard hit when he returned to the ground.

“I almost broke my back coming down,” he said. “So it’s a big, big hit. I remember just looking at the ground.

“So it was quite high. It was definitely high up. I’m grateful to be still alive and in shape.”

Wow we all know Alonso blames SLH for his tailspin career.
Its just so low! But they all love it , and love him for that.

    LH is such a martyr.
This guy needs to hang up the keys and go play movies or fashion.
I would to hear what LH would have said if “the shoe was on the other foot”.
LH comment that he was “so high up, I’m glad to be alive”.
Time for him to grow up.

And yet STILL no penalty on LH lol. Even his biggest fans (the commentary crew) where shocked he didn’t get a penalty for it. It’s never ending…Hamilton can do whatever he wants, year in and year out, and never gets anything called. Atleast he didn’t send Alonso into a wall at 180mph

He was already penalized with a dnf and there was no damage to alonzo so chalk it up to a racing incident and move on.

Since when does a DNF qualify as a penalty? Incidents such as these which result in DNFs lead to grid penalties for the next race all of the time.

How is it that the older Lewis gets, the more immature he becomes? He seemed like such a mature and respectable young man 15 years ago.

Yet again Hamilton attempts to batter an opponent off the track and out of his way, though happily he failed to manage it this time, and then tries to portray himself as the victim in all of it. He’s a poisonous presence in the sport, which will be far better off when he finally buggers off out of it.

Get a grip. He took full responsibility for it. He admitted he squeezed alonzo and it was 100% his own fault.

I’m not talking about that. Though who the fuck is this Alonzo you keep writing about? Nobody of that name involved. Why would you expect anyone to think your views are credible when you can’t even get his name right? Especially when it’s someone who in the next few weeks will become the first driver to reach three hundred and fifty starts and the most experienced racer in Formula One history. If Hamilton doesn’t kill him first, that is.

Anyhow, what I was referring to was Hamilton’s, “Ooh, I’m not going to talk to Alonso, he doesn’t like me” attitude. In keeping with his usual, “They try to stop me winning because I’m the black man” crap. He’s a pathetic, whining, toxic little shit, spreading divisiveness constantly and agitating at every opportunity, he is forever trying to make himself some sort of martyr while simultaneously undermining everyone else. Hamilton is despicable and when he goes the sport will instantly become a better place.
