Cosmo departs Gilbert/Korthoff on the eve of Rolex 24 weekend

Guy Cosmo has announced on social media that he will no longer race for Gilbert/Korthoff Motorsports, mere days before the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The New York native was set to share the team’s #32 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with Scott Andrews, Stevan McAleer and Mike Skeen but said in a post on social media that he had left the team effectively immediately.

“In an unexpected turn of events I have just been notified that I will not race for Gilbert/Korthoff’s GTD program, effective immediately,” he wrote. “I will not be participating in the Rolex 24 with them nor continuing with the team in any capacity.”

A reason for Cosmo’s sudden exit from the squad has not been given. The 44-year-old had been with the team since its formation in the summer of 2021.

“Good luck and safe racing/spectating to all of you this week,” Cosmo added. “And if anyone needs a driver at the last minute, I am more than ready to go. On to the next adventure!”

It is currently unclear who will replace the veteran American aboard the #32 Mercedes-AMG. MotorsportWeek.com has reached out to Gilbert/Korthoff Motorsports for comment.
