Toyota looks set for a one-two finish in the Eight Hours of Bahrain early on after the #36 Alpine suffered a gearbox issue.

Nicolas Lapierre was behind the wheel of the Alpine when it encountered gearbox problems, going into the garage. The car has since rejoined, but is four laps down.

The #8 Toyota GR010 Hybrid now leads with Kazuki Nakajima behind the wheel. The #8 car had moved in front of the sister car, now driven by Jose Maria Lopez, early in the second hour.

In LMP2, Fits van Eerd leads the race for Racing Team Nederland, having taken over the #29 ORECA 07-Gibson from Giedo van der Garde.

Robin Frijns sits second in the #31 Team WRT ORECA, having surpassed the #28 JOTA ORECA of Stoffel Vandoorne, which sits in third place.

Esteban Garcia is fourth for Realteam Racing, with Anthony Davidson in the #38 JOTA ORECA fifth in his final race as a professional race.

Porsche leads GTE Pro one-two in the midst of a close battle with Ferrari. The momentum has swung in the favor of the German squad during a full course yellow period.

The two Ferraris went into the pits first, but when the two Porsches pitted a lap later, they remained out in front of their Italian rivals. The #91 Porsche of Richard Lietz now leads ahead of the #92 Porsche of Neel Jani.

Alessandro Pier Guidi is third in the #51 Ferrari and pressuring Jani, while the #52 car of Miguel Molina sits in fourth.

Francois Perrodo has captured the lead in the #83 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE Evo in GTE Am from the #47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari of Roberto Lacorte, which started the race from pole.

Egidio Perfetti is third in the #56 Team Project 1 Porche 911 RSR-19, while Kessel Racing’s Scott Andrews holds fourth.
