The Intercontinental GT Challenge has announced that the Bathurst Twelve Hours will return to its calendar for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, but has chosen the same provisional date as the IMSA-WEC Sebring double header weekend.
The twelve-hour enduro at the Mount Panorama Circuit in Australia was last held in 2019, before the global COVID-19 pandemic meant the event was cancelled for both 2021.
It now returns as the season opener as part of a four-round calendar for the global GT3 series. The date selected for the race is March 18-20.
This is a notable shift away from the traditional February date to a new date that creates a direct clash with the joint IMSA/FIA World Endurance Championship event held at Sebring International Raceway in Florida, which will be held on the same weekend.
It should be noted that this is a provisional calendar, with the date for the Bathurst Twelve Hours specifically yet to be formally confirmed.
The other three rounds for the series are the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps on July 29-31, as well as a visit to Indianapolis in October and the season finale at Kyalami on November 26-27.
