Kelvin van der Linde won DTM race 1 at Zolder from pole in the #3 Audi Team ABT Sportsline, ahead of teammate Mike Rockenfeller in the sister #9 Audi Team ABT Sportsline in a 1-2 for the Audi team.

Alex Albon finished third in the #23 Ferrari AlphaTauri AF Corse, after leading a portion of the race before making his mandatory pitstop. He had pace, too, setting the fastest lap, a 1:27.529, but just couldn’t find a way past Rockenfeller after exiting the pits just behind the German.

However, it was a disaster race for Albon’s teammate Liam Lawson, who sits second in the championship.

Lawson was taken out in a crash on the first lap involving, among others, Dani Juncadella and Arjun Maini, meaning he scored no points and enabling championship leader Kelvin van der Linde to significantly extend his championship lead.
