Risi Competizione adds Nasr to Le Mans line-up, confirms Monza 6H outing
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Risi Competizione has unveiled the full line-up for its LMP2 debut in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while also confirming an additional outing in the 6 hours of Monza.

The Houston-based outfit was previously confirmed to enter the #82 ORECA 07-Gibson in the French endurance classic, with the British pairing of Ryan Cullen and Oliver Jarvis listed as the first two drivers for its return to prototype racing.

It has now completed its line-up by adding former Formula One driver and IMSA star Felipe Nasr as the third and final driver.

After spending two seasons in Formula One with Sauber, Nasr embarked on a successful campaign in America with Action Express Racing, taking the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship crown as well as multiple race wins, including the Twelve Hours of Sebring and Petit Le Mans.

The Brazilian driver has made one previous start in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, racing a Dallara P217-Gibson for Cetilar Villorba Corse in 2018.

In addition to welcoming Nasr into its ranks, Risi Competizione also confirmed that it willl be entering the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Six Hours of Monza on July 19 in preparation for its first prototype start at Le Mans since 1998.

“Racing at Le Mans never gets old to me,” said team owner Giuseppe Risi.“We are pleased to add the Risi Competizione name to the LMP2 class history at Le Mans with this year’s effort with Ryan, Oliver and Felipe at the wheel.”

“When the prospect to race the car at the 6 Hours of Monza WEC race became an option, we felt it was an excellent opportunity to have the drivers and crew all be able to work together and with the car before such a gruelling race as Le Mans.”

Risi Competizione has been a staple of Ferrari GT competition in both the United States and at Le Mans since the early 2000s, but holds one previous start in a prototype at Le Mans.

In 1998, under the Doyle-Risi Racing banner, the team entered a Ferrari 333SP for Eric van der Poele, Fermin Velez and Wayne Taylor, taking the class victory in the LMP1 category.
