Vettel summoned over alleged yellow flag breach

Sebastian Vettel (GER) Aston Martin F1 Team AMR21. Bahrain Grand Prix, Saturday 27th March 2021. Sakhir, Bahrain.

Sebastian Vettel has been summoned to the stewards over an alleged breach of yellow flag rules when Nikita Mazepin spun during qualifying in Bahrain.

Mazepin suffered a brake-by-wire issue as he commenced his final push lap in Haas’ VF-21 and he spun on the approach to Turn 1.

Vettel was eliminated from the session after abandoning his final push lap, leaving him down in 18th place, faster only than the Haas duo.

On Saturday evening the FIA summoned Vettel to a meeting with the stewards on Sunday afternoon after “allegedly non-respecting double yellow flags at Turn 1.”
