Racing Point ‘can help Vettel rediscover mojo’

Sebastian Vettel will be able to rediscover his mojo when he switches to Racing Point/Aston Martin in 2021, according to the Formula 1 team’s technical director.

Four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel will exit Ferrari at the end of 2020 and switch to the Silverstone-based squad from 2021 on a multi-year deal.

Vettel, 33, is in the midst of his worst Formula 1 campaign, having taken only 17 points from the opening 10 rounds of the season.

“I think he will bring a completely new dynamic to the whole team,” said long-time Racing Point technical chief Andrew Green.

“It shows a measure of intent by Lawrence [Stroll], where he wants to take the team and what he wants to do with it, that’s a really strong statement.

“He’s a multiple World Champion, he will bring a methodology of working that we haven’t seen before, and that’s what we want.

“We want someone who’s been there and done it and show us what it takes to start winning races, what does it take to win a championship, and he will bring that.

“Conversely we can help Seb as well, he’s not in a great place at the moment in his head, I think he’s lost his mojo a little bit.

“I think we are the best team at turning drivers around and getting them back into their sweet spot so I think we can really help him.”
