Racing Point driver Sergio Perez has revealed that he suffered dizziness during qualifying for Formula 1’s Hungarian Grand Prix on Saturday.

Racing Point emerged as Mercedes’ nearest opponent, albeit distant, at the Hungaroring, with Lance Stroll third and Perez taking fourth spot.

It marked the team’s best qualifying result since the 2018 Belgian Grand Prix when it also locked out the second row of the grid.

But Perez revealed afterwards that he was not feeling fully fit during the course of the session.

“It’s a great result for the team, we looked good all the way through,” said Perez.

“I’m happy with the team result, and hopefully tomorrow, we can put it together in the race and score a lot of points for the team.

“I didn’t feel 100 per cent physically [fit] during qualifying, I was getting dizzy through qualifying, that’s not great. I need to check with my physio what is going on. I should be OK for tomorrow.”

Perez finished in sixth position at both grands prix in Austria.
