The next stop for the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series is the fabulous Road America circuit in the heart of the Wisconsin countryside near Elkhart Lake for a double-header weekend at Road America.

Thanks to a heavily redrafted schedule, what was one race has turned into two after the Honda Indy Toronto event pulled out of the calendar.

Chip Ganassi’s Scott Dixon heads into the weekend with a 29-point lead over Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud after claiming victory in the opening two races of the season – It’s the first time the Kiwi has ever managed to acheive that feat in his 20 years in the series.

Road America returned to the schedule after a nine-year break in 2016 after the race fell away from the calendar when CART and IndyCar merged in 2008.

Familial relations have quite the record around the circuit with no less than three families having taken victory at the circuit.

Emerson Fittipaldi and his son Christian have four wins between them while Mario and Michael Andretti amassed a stunning six victories. Marco could become a third generation winner if he were to take victory.

Jacques Villeneuve took victory in 1994 and ’95 while his uncle Jacques Sr. – Brother of Gilles, won the race in 1985.

2019 Recap

Andretti Autosport’s Colton Herta claimed his first pole position in IndyCar at this event last season, however, his inexperience in tyre management saw the then teenager slip down the order and would finish eighth.

Alexander Rossi started alongside Herta on the front-row and claimed the lead with an imperious pass around the outside of Turn 1 and never looked back. The Californian went on to lead 54 of the 55 laps and cross the line by a stunning 28 seconds ahead of the Penske duo of Will Power and Josef Newgarden.

Dixon was also hit and turned around at Turn 4 on the opening lap by Ryan Hunter-Reay, but was able to pull the No.9 PNC Bank car back to fifth place by the time the chequered flag dropped.
